The charity I have chosen to support is the charity I am a co-founder of, because it most reflects the philosophy of Love Creates Love.
For over ten years, I have supported an international charity called Love Support Unite, a small, beautiful organisation working with vulnerable mothers and babies in Malawi, where maternal mortality rates are among the highest in the world.
I am a co-founder, and have helped to establish programmes that train community health workers, midwives, and local practitioners in the practices that support mothers and babies in the critical first 1,000 days, baby massage, nurturing touch, co-regulation, and responsive care.
Love Support Unite works in some of the most under-resourced maternal health environments on earth, bringing the science of the first 1,000 days to mothers who need it most, alongside the community practitioners who serve them.
Every Mother Counts, founded by Christy Turlington Burns, is a global advocacy organization working to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. Their mission reflects the belief that the earliest hours of a life are the most critical: when mothers survive childbirth and receive skilled care, their babies have the foundation for optimal development in the first 1,000 days.
I support their work because maternal health IS infant health. A mother who survives childbirth, receives postpartum care, and is held through the earliest weeks can regulate herself, and build her baby’s nervous system through that regulation. That is where everything begins.

For every ten mothers who join the Here Mama app through paid annual membership during pregnancy and the first two years, we gift one lifetime membership to a mother facing hardship, poverty, or isolation, identified through our partner organizations, community health workers, and direct nominations from our community.

We measure our impact not in headlines, but in mothers held. Every membership gifted, every partnership supported, and every mother who gains access to the practices that support her baby’s first 1,000 days is part of a ripple we are committed to tracking with care.
Each year we publish a Love Creates Love Impact Report, a quiet account of how many memberships were gifted, where the support travelled, which communities were reached, and the outcomes we can measure: mothers served, babies held, practitioners trained, and programs supported.
Radical transparency is part of how we practise love.

When you love and care and nurture yourself, when you regulate your own nervous system, you have a greater capacity to love and nurture and care for your baby. And your baby, borrowing your regulated nervous system, grows knowing the world is a safe, loving, nurturing place. Their brain develops with that as the foundation.
